Tablet PCs are gradually becoming the first love
After getting huge response for iPads from the consumers, Apple has launched its successor called iPad 2. iPad 2 comes with many enhanced features than its predecessor and was embraced by the mobile lovers with great enthusiasm with a record sales of around one million units on the day of its release. The device packs a dual-core 1GHz A5 chip which is much better than the old iPad. This promises to offer 10 times better graphical performance than its predecessor. Incorporating a 9.7 inches wide backlit-LED IPS display with a picture resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, the device comes equipped with dual cameras with video calling facility.
There is a 0.3 megapixel front and 0.91 megapixel rear cameras along with PhotoBooth and FaceTime applications. Users can record 1280 x 720 HD video footages in at 30 frames per second. The device runs on latest iOS 4.3 operating system that allows the users to customize the side switch. With this embedded features, users can either mute the device or lock the screen. The device also offers many multitasking facilities, Airplay feature and customizable screens. Other features worth mentioning are upto 10 hours of huge battery life, a smart and protective cover to protect the screen, easy to use interface, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.
To give tough competition to this tablet Motorola, another reputed mobile manufacturing company, is releasing XOOM which will be the new generation tablet PC. The device will be equipped with a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 CPU processor with 1GB of RAM. XOOM will run on Android 3.0 OS and will offer 10.1-inch TFT display screen and multi tasking facilities.
Motorola XOOM is far ahead than the iPad 2 in the camera segment. It comes packed with a full featured 5-megapixel digital camera primary with dual-LED flash and autofocus features, and a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video conferencing. The device runs on the advanced Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS and offers MicroSD support, Micro USB port, HDMI-out, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR features.
Both the devices seem to offer great features and superior technology. Although both the tablet PCs come with their own advantages and disadvantages, but by comparing the main features, XOOM seems to score better than the Apple iPad, although there are many Apple fans who would love to own this new and improved version of the previous iPad. iPad 2 deals are already available in the UK market under various pay monthly mobile phone offers whereas customers looking for buying the XOOM may have to wait for a couple of weeks for the Motorola XOOM deals to reach them.
