LG LCD televisions come in a variety of sizes and their picture is provided by a liquid crystal display (hence the name!). These were originally used for computer monitors but the technology soon progressed into televisions.
An LG Plasma TV offers slightly better picture quality to its LCD brothers as it uses different technology to display the images. Their picture is formed using glass panels with inert gases in between them. The outer region of the glass panel is covered by lots of very thin wires which create grids over millions of pixels. When the plasma set is turned on the power stimulates the gases forming plasma and producing UV light. This light then illuminates phosphors to create the full colour spectrum and the pixels display moving pictures.
Given the choice, movie buffs and sports fans would lean towards a plasma set but to an untrained eye the difference is hardly noticeable.
Of the three types though, if you want superior picture quality then an LG LED TV should definitely be considered. They range in size from 32 inches up to a mammoth 55 inches and as you'd expect, you will have to pay a bit more for them due to their newer and more advanced technology.
LED TVs are LCD screens that use LED back-lighting. A normal LCD television uses fluorescent lights for its backlighting while an LED TV uses Light Emitting Diodes which is where the name comes from. They are thinner and weigh less than other televisions and are also more eco-friendly as they use less power. This 'greenness' leads to cheaper bills.
LG Smart TV is found on many new LG televisions and offers internet browsing and numerous multimedia capabilities.
